Video Demo: Self-Observation/Reflection:
0:01s- the instructions could have been given with more enthusiasm and energy. This is a review activity and the students are somewhat familiar with the procedures. 0:07s- give to students' the strips of paper after the instructions are given. 0:40s- use "combine" instead of "push" 1:17s- good teacher monitoring around the class, teacher was able to walk around and answer student questions. 1:58s- one group still was not able to understand the instructions. Teacher could have done a better job explaining the rules. 2:45s- one group was done way before the other groups. This could have easily been fixed by mixing student levels, making sure that the partners are not both high-level, but can compliment and learn from each other. 3:00s- teacher would have set a timer or given a time limit for this activity. This way, one group isn't just waiting for the others to be done. Post Observation Self-reflection: After watching this video, I realized that the directions could have been explained more concisely. There was one group that did not understand the instructions at all the first time it was explained. To avoid this in the future, I need to be very clearly with my articulation of the instructions, making it easy to follow for the students. More planning on the teacher's end is needed in order to avoid the same problem in the future. |
